Overview
Pickup from your hotel to Samui Elephant Sanctuary to meet the home of 6 retired elephants which is listed by World Animal Protection. Watching the wildlife animals play in the mud and bathe in the ponds by themselves and you will learn from our experienced tour guide with our elephants. The Thai vegetarian buffet will be serves during the time you watching the elephants enjoy their own time. This program is suitable with all ages and please note that the activities is not offer bathe and muddy with elephant.They need space to splash, roll around, submerge, and cover themselves in mud. Elephants like peace and quiet, not loud groups of visitors throwing mud or buckets of water at them. If people are crowding around them, it is very stressful for the elephants. Also, the mahout (handler) needs to control the elephant by forcing it to stand still or lie down, not giving any freedom for the elephant to play.

I like the fact that all the money we paid for this will be used to save more elephants.
My contact was Kwan who was lovely, she guided me through all the information about all the sanctuary. It was really to sad to see two Mahoots had been let go due to not enough money coming in due to Covid.
I beg you all to donate £100 to this absolutely amazing sanctuary, the elephants eat 10% of their own bodyweight every day. The staff are amazing and I wish them all the success in the world.
If EVER you are in Samui, please book and donate to the upkeep of these gorgeous mammals. I have had the most wonderful experience of my life today.

There is also a wonderful lunch for you at the end. I was definitely hungry and it tasted fantastic.
A beautiful warm place for the heart and soul.
The staff are brilliant and the animals are free to roam. No chains, ropes or even raised voices. Just encouraged to let you close to touch and see with food. This is the only way we should these wild animals up close if you want to. They are all rescued from the riding centres and logging business. So have a nice life now in retirement.
The lunch we had afterwards was really nice food and all soft drinks tea coffee included as well. And best of all you are paying to help them rescue more.

The care and true compassion that the elephant caretakers, the guides, the people who we don’t see, all believe in the same strength and desire to see these gracious creatures live out their lives with humility, freedom and expert care. It was an easy and well constructed afternoon where safety was first by understanding elephant behaviour. Great care was taken to share information with us so we too could feel our attention meant as much to the elephants as to ourselves. I learned a great deal in a wonderful environment.
